Artwork DescriptionTwo triangular marble forms in front of hotel.
Artwork StatementThe project's idea was to create a piece that referenced the origins or source of the material. The sculptures are based on line drawings of two mountains. They are like tubes of energy that allow the characteristics of the stone to come through as it is a simple form. They also reference the geometry in nature.

About Kent Laforme

Dates1969 in Nova Scotia
Artist BioI work exclusively with stone as that is my connection to the earth. Sculpture is my connection with myself. I'm interested in the evolution of stonecarving from ancient Buddhist sculpture to Michelangelo, to Noguchi. My work uses the energy of the material and inherent characteristics of the stones in abstract sculptures.
